Prepare the right material, drawing, tolerances, liner, and validation plan for reliable precision die-cut adhesive tape parts.

Die-cut adhesive tape succeeds when the converted part is designed around the assembly process. Material selection, geometry, tolerances, liner handling, and application conditions should be reviewed together before an RFQ is released.

Start with the part function

Define whether the part insulates, bonds, seals, cushions, masks, or provides EMI continuity. Note the substrate, bond area, service temperature, expected load, and removal requirement. These details determine whether a polyimide, PET, acrylic foam, conductive foil, or non-woven construction is appropriate.

Design geometry for converting

Avoid narrow unsupported fingers and sharp internal corners when the part must be weeded or placed automatically. Add registration features only when they improve assembly accuracy. The die line, adhesive ooze allowance, and liner should be considered on the same drawing.

Specify tolerances that matter

Separate critical dimensions from cosmetic dimensions. State the tolerance for overall length and width, hole position, tab size, liner overhang, and registration. Unrealistically tight tolerances increase cost without improving the final assembly.

Choose the delivery format

Sheets, rolls, spools, kiss-cut parts, and individually separated pieces each suit a different production method. A stable liner can make manual peeling easier, while a lighter liner may improve high-speed dispensing. Confirm unwind direction, splice limits, packaging, and storage conditions.

Validate on the real surface
